ALMOST ANYTHING GOES

Tonight Cissy and I attended a delightful (and delicious) dinner concert of the Cherokee Community Chorale. This season’s previous concerts included the Christmas portion of Handel’s “Messiah” and a Bach cantata sung completely in German.

This evening had a much different fare with a cruise ship theme of “Almost Anything Goes.”

Songs included, among others, “Summertime,” “Blue Moon,” “Putting on the Ritz,” “Night and Day,” “I’ve Got Rhythm,” “Turn the World Around,” and “Gate Gate.”

Jenny Rawson was the very talented and energetic guest director. At least five different soloists were featured. Our reason and motivation to attend were to hear our favorite music couple and dear friends, George and Jane Starke.

I found a very interesting quote in the seasonal program guide. Bach is quoted remarking, “Music is the mediator between the spiritual and the sensual life; it is blessed in the creation.”

In a much less sophisticated way I tried to communicate a similar thought about music at the end of my previous blog about "Bibles to Beatles."

Phill,

Terrific looking blog! The composition of the photographs are quite good and are an improvement over Phill's Fuzzy Tours.

How about another mexican dinner sometime?
