One week ago one of our city parks was the site of “Cherokee Pignic.” The central event was a BBQ Cook-off divided into two categories -- Professionals ($10,000 Purse) and Amateur Backyard Burners ($1,500 Purse). Besides lots of good eating there was a halloween costume contest, outdoor movie, games, heritage craft demonstrations, music and dancing. www.cherokeepignic.com
Last Sunday afternoon our family had our own version of a pignic. There was lots of food --- barbecue, baked beans, potato salad, cole slaw, cupcakes, pumpkin cheesecake, and caramel apples.
Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean showed up to battle with Luke Skywalker and a Black Ninja. Tinkerbelle and Ladybug and KittyKat tried to calm the atmosphere. Lots of laughs were provided by everyone who bobbed for apples.
