PLAY DAY

Today was a play day with my four-year old granddaughter Merrily. When I arrived at her house this morning she was sitting in the driveway with her bag, ready to go. On the way to my house we stopped at the church for me to pick up some literature.

The theme today was “aquatic.” When we walked in the door of the house, Merrily went straight to the aquarium to look at the fish. Next she wanted to go down to the creek. Since she wore her bathing suit, it was obvious her desire and plan was to get in the water as soon as possible. After lunch we read books, watched a DVD, played with toys, and drew pictures.

This afternoon when we returned to her house, her siblings Ethan and Olivia were just finishing up their school homework. We played in and around their new tree house. The current resident of the tree house is a salamander that Olivia caught in their creek. There are three ways to exit the tree house - ladder, rope, or zip line. I took the ladder.
