HOMECOMING

Sunday morning Cissy and I had a wonderful worship experience at Norcross First United Methodist Church. Today was a Homecoming Celebration in honor of the 190th birthday of this great church. I was delighted to visit with so many friends, brothers and sisters in Christ, with whom I had the honor to serve as associate pastor for 2 ½ years.

The worship time in the sanctuary, combined with the fellowship meal in the family life center, made for a delicious banquet of physical and spiritual food. I believe the Father above was rejoicing with us for the furtherance of the kingdom of God through this gathering of believers.

The ride home afforded an opportunity to make two stops to see some of our children and all six grandchildren. First, we saw Seth and his family in Roswell. They are having a big weekend hosting family from Texas and Mississippi.

Then we stopped in Hickory Flat to see Walker and his family who were enjoying a time riding their horses.

Now it is supper time. I can’t believe I can eat again after the abundant covered dish meal at church! Then I am off to take a ride in my Jeep before sunset. It will be hard to beat the sunset I saw yesterday on my ride to Lake Allatoona.
