BOOKS & BOOGIE

This afternoon and tonight I saw Cissy go through several changes of outfits. I think the second one, shown above, is definitely the "professional teacher look."

Tonight she and I experienced two special events. First, Cissy’s life-long friend and neighbor, Rebecca Johnston, had a book signing for her first book titled, Hometown Holidays: Memories Throughout the Year. Click the link to see availability at Target and Amazon.

The book is a collection of holiday-themed columns Rebecca wrote over the years for a local newspaper. People quickly queued up at the cash registers to buy the book at Yawn’s, the local bookstore. Then they stood in line to have a personal visit with Rebecca and to have her sign the book.

Next, we went to the home of Walker, Cissy’s son. His wife Becky and children Will, Aaron, and Ansley were the hosts for the third installment of Cissy’s birthday dinners. (She has another b’day dinner scheduled with more friends next Friday.) Daughter Betsy and her husband Josh were also present.

The meal was one of my very favorites. I put in my request to have the same meal for my birthday. In addition to meatloaf, there were green beans and corn from their garden, real mashed potatoes further enhanced by sour cream and chives and cheese, and biscuits. The birthday cake was beautiful and the ice cream so good.

After dinner entertainment was a real “floor show” by the children as they boogied to country music.
