“Just because it is, does not mean it should be.” This quote from the movie, Australia, seems to be the theme of the movie. Upon Cissy’s request we went to see the movie last night. Reticent to see what might be a “chick flick” and doubtful that I would enjoy it, I agreed anyway to go.
Yes, there was romance in the story. Yes, I thought the opening scenes with the arrival of Nicole Kidman’s character seemed contrived and over-acted. Yes, there seemed to be too many stories packed within the story of two hours and 40 minutes.
But, yes, I enjoyed the film. Most of all I was awed by the artistic and creative framing of the photography. I liked the rugged beauty of the Australia scenes. I appreciated the tension portrayed between the main characters. The special effects were well done. I was happy with the peaceful ending. I walked out of the movie theater feeling like I had gotten my money’s worth in entertainment.
